Rob Rombout doorkruist de Elzas per trein, als vreemdeling op doorreis, en spreekt met de mensen die hij ontmoet, onder wie Sylvie Levy, Philippe Poirier, Ibtissam Mellouki en Daniel Ziegler, over dingen die niets met regionale identiteit te maken lijken te hebben. In een coupé kent niemand elkaar; ze delen alleen dezelfde trein op hetzelfde moment. Luisteren, door het raam kijken, verder reizen: uit hun verhalen tekent de film het portret van een streek, even gedeeld met vreemden.
