A round mirror printed with the Bauhaus teaching diagram, reflecting a photographer with a raised camera in the museum hall
2019, Weimar, Germany, Bauhaus Museum

“Rombout asserts the primacy of his own gaze and uses every possibility of film language, framing, the scale of shots, staging, the pose, arbitrary editing and even fiction, to make a film that is above all not a pure creation (that would be fiction) but a subjective view of the world. Like Walker Evans in photography, Rombout does not make documentary cinema but films in a documentary style. The nuance is essential.”
